Extended range fuel tank

You are getting a wonderful car. But every time you fill up you may be wondering that you could have waited 2 more days before visiting the gas pump. But think of the weight you'll be saving.
You might ask the Porsche concierge your concerns. Name in a z356 Eduardo post.

Has your dealership tried changing the car?... I work at the dealership level. I've made changes to V210 cars before and sometimes PAG takes it - sometimes not. Depends on your luck. If it really is locked, not much you can do unfortunately.

The extended fuel tank is over 23 gals. Not many sport cars have that large of a tank. This much I know. If I had to pay for the extended tank, I would never have optioned it. Not a big deal.
That said, if you want it that badly have your dealer try to change it. Make Porsche respond to the change.

AFAIK, the GT3 is the only sports car in the Porsche range which has a tank that big. The reason the GT3 has such a large optional tank is because it uses the Carrera 4 wide body, but without the AWD components, so the unused space is available for a larger tank. Porsches have had 17-18 gallon tanks for years; I agree, the bigger tank is nice but not that big of a deal. I wouldn't risk losing an allocation over it....

Just wanted to give you guys an update not so much for this but so everyone knows it you can't change after the freeze point. Here is porsche response.
"We have looked into this situation in depth. Unfortunately once a vehicle has surpassed it's freeze point it is simply impossible to change its configuration. The just in time parts process that Porsche adopted back in the 90's is an extremely intricate one which involves intense logistical planning to ensure very specific parts arrive just at the right place in production for each vehicle. Changing just one vehicle after everything has been planned affects the production of all the other vehicles in line at the time and would cause massive delays and production backups for
everyone so it just simply isn't possible. "
