Question for Owners: Neutral in the GT3 PDK
A question for owners. I've read that you can select neutral by pulling both gear levers simultaneously. In the Ferrari 458, when both paddles are pulled, the gear indicator on the dash shown "N" and it stays in neutral when the paddles are subsequently released. (This is a great way to coast to a light, so the car doesn't surge through the gears as it downshifts). As soon as a paddle is pulled again, the computer matches engine speed and selects the gear automatically.
How does it work on the new GT3 PDK?

When you pull both paddles, the indicator for whatever gear you are in flashes, and the gearbox goes into neutral. When you let go of the paddles the clutch re-engages in that gear. This works in either manual or auto mode and in every gear except reverse.

Edit: The answer is yes. If you pull back both paddles, the gearbox goes into neutral and the gear you are in begins flashing. As road speed drops, the gearbox selects the next lowest gear in succession, but the gearbox remains in neutral, and the new gear number flashes in the display. If you coast all the way to a stop, 1st gear is selected, flashes in the display, and the gearbox stays in neutral until the paddles are released. Pretty cool, actually.....

Thanks for the reply.
I have a new SLS Black Series, and while I love the DCT in that car, I do wish I could select neutral. I guess Mercedes doesn't want to give me that freedom.
The 991 GT3 sounds super impressive. I was lucky to own a GT3RS and it was magnificent. While I have been mourning the loss of the manual in the GT3, I am at least happy to hear that it is fast to respond to paddle input and that neutral is available.

I haven't actually tried that yet, but my guess is yes. I'll let you know.....
