Default Tire Insurance anyone?

Dealers are always pushing for tire insurance which I have always purchased with my other vehicles. With the GT3, is it even worth it? aren't the tires pretty soft and will reach "non covered" tread wear levels after two track days?
With estimated 5K miles/year is it something I should skip?

Thanks for your comments.

I thought the tire insurance also covered the wheels. At their price may still be a worthwhile investment. Also read in this forum that the price is very negotiable. Anyone with better info?

depends on price.
5yr no deductible for $795 seemed ok.

Those policies typically have a cap that may cover 1 GT3 wheel replacement at most.

Also, check the minimum tread depth requirements. With the PSC2, i'm willing to bet it won't take too much before they wear below what the warranty will cover a replacement on.

In my experience, the warranty people will do everything to try and get out of covering a tire. I had to go through it once, and they tried to say that my HRE whees were not for my 911 (the warranty covered aftermarket wheels, but i only had a tire puncture). I had the dealer on my side, but it was an annoying process to say the least. I know others who had no issues whatsoever.

I paid $895 for tire insurance for my 991C2S and have had two rears and one front tire replaced for free. So, I will buy again for my GT3...
