"One crank of the motor blows such unworthy thoughts to dust. It turns out the GT3 is one of those rare sports cars you don’t have to drive fast to enjoy. It’s a special car just to be with, even if you just drive it slowly through the morning commute."

Interesting comment from the author in light of concerns expressed by some here that the car might be too fast and capable to be enjoyed anywhere but on track.....

Thanks for the post.

Also:

"But it is enough: enough to confirm the greatness of the GT3 and its worthiness as the next in a long and illustrious line. Is it more fun than the car it replaces? Probably not; but if like me you believe a car’s enjoyment is defined by how much fun it is to drive multiplied by how often you feel inclined to drive it, over a lifetime it would be the more satisfying car to own."

This will make the naysayers, especially those with 997's, happy. But I totally get the statement. My 964 is a blast but b/c not daily usable by any stretch, it doesn't get a lot of miles.

Guy's, those who have ordered a 991GT3 no doubt have a winner! Just about every reviewer has fallen in love with the car. I love his comparison on the same drive with Ferrari's and McLaren and stating the GT3 was far and away the best.

I get the " is it more fun" statement, however, was the .2 more fun than the .1? Probably not for some but I still prefer it.

Funny, I can say all those funny looking place names in Wales no problem having been born and raised there. I know most of those roads pretty well, they are truly awesome to make progress along. Usually they have terrific sight lines through corners in scenery which is built for fast cars to devour on a narrow but wide enough strip of tarmac. Used to have a 993 in 1994 when it was launched and before that a 968 club sport (stripped out, kevlar seats etc) that I used to hammer across those roads. Great memories and in all sorts of weather. Really highlights a cars abilities and challenges.

I drove the Maclaren MP4 at VIR recently and was deeply impressed, put it ahead of the 458 but thats just me so dont flame me for it. I preferred it. Was looking forward to the 991 GT3 and hoped it'd be something like the MP4 powertrain - it is. But because its got less power I actually think its better as a result because its more accessible.

Compared to my 997.2 GT3 as of yesterday now long gone to another rennlister, I agree with the author here that the new car makes you feel like a driving god without having to work so hard as you definitely would in the old one. Need a track to know for sure, but so far I've enjoyed the new one a lot more than the old on the road because its easier to access and you dont have to be living at 7k+ all the time.

I bet the 0.2 spot in your garage is being missed but life moves on.

Indeed it is. Such a different car - its from the other side of the tracks versus this new one. Time will tell whats best for what, and of course time waits for no one so I dont doubt its quicker based on poodling around so far.
