Default Order in - Introducing myself

Hi All - finalized my order the other day at Hennessy Porsche in Atlanta. Coming from a line of 7 Audis I was considering the R8 as well, but the GT3 seemed like a much better choice and I pulled the trigger. As it sits now, my GT3 will be delivered in April. I currently have a heavily modified 2013 Audi S4 6-speed that I'll be looking to get rid of in a couple months. Here is my build as it sits today. Likely to change as my freeze date (2/15/2014) approaches. I've never been this excited about a car. I've actually never had the patience to order a car so all of this is a new experience for me. I'll hang out here and post where I can to pass the time. It's wearing on me already! I look forward to many miles ahead with all of you. The most fun I've had on a car forum was with my C7 Audi A6 because I was among the first to take delivery and start tinkering. We all learned as we went along. I look forward to a similar experience here. - Sean

Welcome aboard. HD radio/Voice is not already included in the std pkg? This is the 1st time I see these two.

@silverrules -- Yes, HD radio and Voice Control are indeed paid options.

It does boggle the mind that "voice control" is not standard. And why is mobile phone prep a free option? Through this process, I have found that the extensive options list is perilous. One small mistake and you could end up very disappointed.

CongrTs...you won't be dissapointed. Totally different vehicle versus any Audi including the r8 (which is v nice btw). Welcome to rennlist where time dissapears faster than light in a black hole.

I have read a few comments about your dealer I have never spoken with them. Msrp? Welcome to the Porsche world probably won't be your last.

Yes - it will be strange not having an Audi in the garage. This all started with a test drive of a 4S. I couldn't believe the way that car felt. But the power wasn't quite there. So I had planned on buying a turbo unless I could find a way to get the GT3. I am huge into engine sound, so much so, that it's likely the #1 criteria for me when weighing options for a purchase. The turbo did not do it for me . I read somewhere that it sounded like a "leaf blower". Sadly that's not a bad representation.

Don't want to go into the terms of the deal, but I'm very happy with where I ended up and felt like it's fair based upon my extensive research online.

I think I'm starting a new era in my life moving from Audi to Porsche as a brand loyalist and I think it's important to build a good relationship with my dealer.

Looking forward to the miles ahead.

sgroer - its interesting that your freeze date is so late as compared to your expected delivery date. e.g. my freeze date is coming up in a couple of days but my delivery is not until 1st of May. my understanding is most others had similar 4 month freeze to delivery lengths but perhaps I am mistaken.

Good point llstuey about freeze date being so far out. I have 3/21 delivery and my freeze date was Dec 9th. I be careful to what these sales guys tell you. You could be getting locked soon based on what we have seen. I would definitely chk on this with your dealer.
