Autoweek GT3 review. Purists get ready.
"You'll have to make up your own mind on this next point, but we're not buying the argument the 911 GT3 ought to receive a six-speed manual. Preserve its purity? When was the last time you saw one on a Le Mans winner? Exactly. … The seven-speed dual clutch brings a little additional weight and some packaging concerns. However, they are small sacrifices in the big picture considering how it helps widen the performance envelope, allowing you to enjoy the car on more levels than ever. Plus it adds to the car's performance potential in no uncertain terms. Not once during the day did we think a manual transmission would better serve the driving experience. And anyone who suggests no manual takes away the raw emotion likely hasn't experienced the new car the way Porsche Motorsport intended. Yes, it really is that good."

Wait until we get the track reviews gents. I believe you will find that will be a real eye opener for the new car....its will really shine.
I think even hardcore MT fans will have to take this car for a day or two, drive the bollocks off of it then make their own decision. But on tarmac rally or track I dont think ANYONE will argue with how the games moved on...

A memorable day spent driving the new 911 GT3 reveals a faster, even more responsive yet more accessible and user-friendly car. Its abilities are quite remarkable and very much the root of its appeal. You can now comfortably drive it to work in automatic mode, something we're sure many prospective owners will do."
So, basically, a Nissan GT-R, only slower.

I agree. Its nothing like a GTR cosmetically, balance, weight or quality. Probably the only thing similar is the ring time. On typical 3-4 mile track the GT3 will eat the GTR IMO.

The GT3 is no GTR,not even close! I really never understood and with the fear of repeating myself...Why on EARTH would people compare a NA car with a twin turbo???!!! Compare the GTR with a Turbo or Turbo S,not the GT3!
I think the GT3 is a car in a category on its own and I'm sure the 991 GT3 is going to turn out to be a brilliant car. May it turn out just as great as its predecessor remains to be seen and Porsche has rolled the dice on the transmission choice.
IMHO,if Porsche launched this new GT3 with the best Manual transmission ever made or a PDK-S/MANUAL option, then this car would've had all the chances to turn out as the greatest GT3 ever made.

GTR.. had one, drove a sorted one.
Could not live with that transmission on the street and the car is crap at the track.
Gt3 is nothing like a GTR, but the GTR experience and the elements used by GT3 is what worries me.
Heard many times the Dual clutch is great on the Nissan, but I hate it. If the PDK is not away better I have to be out. It's a Porsche so it won't be crap on the track of course.
If they just woulda made the lighter manual, I knew for sure what my next car would be, now I will have to beg someone to let me drive one to actually take the RS I have a deposit down for..
