Hi Scott,

Im with you..on the CUP idea..5 years ago, I wanted to have GT3 by all means, then I wanted to have a GT2..now after owning both - and not selling them again, I realise that it makes no sense (besides all the other things which dont convince me so far on the 991 GT3) to buy another road legal GT3. If I want t o get real race car feeling, there is only a GT3 CUP left..or you go into formula monoplace racing cars.. A 997 CUP will smoke the 991 GT3 anyway..even a GT2RS has no chance..I witnessed that with my own eyes.

The only question is whether the 991 GT3RS..can make up for this "CUP desire"..but I dont think so..

I think GT3CUP prices will remain where they are now..but Im really afraid off one thing...Porsche will increase the prices for parts on 997 GT3/GT2s..drastically..

I'd rather have a 996 Cup. It will still smoke a 991 GT3 and it doesn't have the nanny sequential.

I actually think as a street car, now that PDK is mandatory, that a well set up Cayman S (or R!) holds more appeal.

I like the rawness of my car on the track and the fact that I have to work hard to keep up to the newer tech. I am driving the car. The car isn't driving itself.

Definitely NO for me.

I don't think I have the skill to ever outrun my 3.8RS. Glad I have it as a keeper.

When I grows older then yes I will eventually get a PDK sport car, but I'll be looking into Ferrari instead of Porsche.

PDK only?

Rear wheel steering?

I could not be more disappointed.

What next for the track? GPS activated predetermined shift points and precision satellite based turn in?

If Porsche kills the 6 speed in the turbo, I'm going to drink myself to death.

this will come automatically..suppliers will produce much less parts for these engines now..they are just used in CUP and likely RSR..so its only a question of time....

Hey, please dont do that ..you can always buy a second hand GT3 with manual..but, since you still have the girl on your avatar as a toy...I wouldnt worry too much..

yes..fair point too..Im thinking also a bit about that one..but the 997 just looks better..but if I would get the 997 CUP..ist has to be the 2011 Model onwards..the gearbox is much improved on that one..

I plan on holding off. The 991 gt3 would be my first porsche. No question the car sounds terrific and it should be a hit, but I'm a bit disappointed that there is no manual option (issue has been beaten to death). I'm not knocking Pdk, i think it will be great, but wish it wasnt the only choice. I'm hoping the RS has a manual option as others have brought up in speculation, but I can't see that happening (much like the absence of manual in the challenge stradale and scuderia). Oh well. Maybe I'll love the PDK! Otherwise I'll look into a 997 gt3.

yes...BTW..nice collection too.

I just posted this in the other 991 GT3 thread..for those thinking about the RS..here are my concerns:

1. Panamera interior
2. e-steering (forbidden in racing)
3. e brake (forbidden in racing)
4. rear wheel steering (forbidden in racing)
5. Engine - remains to be seen, not that I guess that it will be the old one..but to which extent the new GT3 engine will be used in racing.

AP said, the RS will be closer to the CUP..if his words are logic, than at least point 1-4 have to be taken out of the 991 RS car..I wish so ..but I doubt it.

Lets see..
