It's really simple to install just a shifter. I did one recently and after the test drive I was done in 45 minutes.

you can do the install in 16 minutes if you don't care about destroying your interior lol (cringe meter was off the chart while watching). OCD people, please refrain from watching

My ocd is pretty bad and i have to admit that was really easy. Little worrisome at times as I didn’t wanna break anything. I did have to just take back apart quickly as the plug for back up camera must have popped out. All good now. I also adjusted the position of where neutral was it was a bit too high. So install and reposition took about 70 min for a first timer. Speaking of ocd I also put in my Techart pedals. I refused to drill holes so I used heavy duty double sided tape

Not a huge thing but does the shift kit eliminate the bobble of the shift lever in 4th gear under acceleration/deceleration?

Went for a short drive today. Absolutely love the shifter. Throws are shorter and precise. May take 10-15% more effort but I’m ok with that. I wanna drive my car not have it drive me. I will probably adjust the neutral position one more time. Solid mod for me. Enjoyed doing it myself as well.
Drove an RS the other day and as much as the PDK was lightening fast. I was over it after 30 min. If I could only have one. Manual all day.

This is nothing to worry about though (stock or with another shifter).

so this picture is of the stock shifter. I just took pics before taking apart so I didn’t mess anything up. The red arrow indicates where i originally had the new shifter connected. Was too high. I then moved it to about the stock position (where it is in the pic) got better but I’m going to move it again to where the blue arrow is.
At first 2nd gear felt as if it was too high up. It’s better now but as I said I’m gonna move to the blue arrow. Should be just about right for my liking.
possible for you to weigh each? I was too impatient.

Porsche sells a little plastic alignment collar that sets the neutral position of the shifter. Put it on the shifter and it sort of locks the shifter into place. Then you just attach the cable linkage. Easy.
Not sure if it works for aftermarket shifters though.

Installation Hints
I inquired w/ Dan for any helpful hints concerning installation of the cables. I'm posting it here for everyone's benefit:
"The left cable is easy because the spring centers the lever. I usually place the cable in the middle of the grooves on the right side or I lean the lever back slightly so it’s closer to you. You can move it forward or backward some. Just not too much or you may hit the front or back of the shifter preventing it from going into gear. I’d place them in and go for a test drive before assembling the console back together to see how you like it. Put just the **** back on for the test drive."
Jimmy-D,
I don't think you want the stiffer spring unless you like muscling the shifter. As I understand it, the default spring (1.5 mm) mimics stock feel. The stiffer spring (2 mm) requires extra effort to move the shift lever away from its relaxed state (dead center, in neutral). See also Bluehorse's comments above. In any event, I went w/ the default (smaller) spring. Your preferences may vary.
Give Dan at Numeric Racing a call. I'm sure he'd be glad to discuss the differences. BTW: he likes the heavier spring.
