Default Crests on Wheels on a Porsche

Why do people put crests (i.e., of wheel manufacturers) on wheels installed on a Porsche other than the Porsche crest?

Why do people buy Porsche’s? Why do they have favorite colors? Why do they eat certain foods? It’s called personal preference. You might not like it, but other people do.

For the record, I have BBS wheels and I run the Porsche crest.

Some wheel mfg's do not have "direct fit" OEM center caps

It's not a question of what I do or do not like, I'm just curious because the Porsche crest would seem more elegant than that of a third party.

I left the HRE caps on because we couldn't find a set of Porsche crests that fit. If you know of a source, i'm all ears!

When Porsche sponsors me - I’ll be happy to put their crest wherever they would like.

While I’m still writing the check - I will choose what I prefer.

You just answered your own question. You’re assuming elegance is desired by everyone. It’s all about opinion. You might as well ask the forum what music they listen to and why.

This doesn't really apply for the cars with center locks. Haven't seen anybody make the dust covers other than Porsche.

Because the Porsche ones do not fit a lot of aftermarket wheels (or match the color) and Porsche would sue the aftermarket wheel companies if they started putting trademarked items on their wheels.

Since this is the GT3/RS/R forum, all the cars have centerlocks and the crest fits in the center bolt that came with the car (same bolt used with stock and aftermarket wheels)

There’s enough Porsche crests on this car... I like to be a little different.
