Exhaust flaps broken again after 1000 miles - getting tired of this
My new RS stopped closing the exhaust flaps just after 1000 miles and one track day. No Laguna GPS device installed yet on this car, so it's 100% due to a defect. I'm very pissed at Porsche because it happened on my previous GT3 3 times over 5 years - first two times they replaced one actuator each time, and last time they replaced both with different-looking ones, so probably updated part. This new RS had actuators stop working within the first month of ownership with normal use and no exhaust modification. WTF? It gets super-annoying to deal with this. Anyone else had this issue in the .2 RS? One positive is that unlike my old 991.1 GT3, .2 RS does not drone at highway speeds with flaps always open.

Sucks. How are you discovering the failure? (just how the exhaust sounds?)

I noticed no change in idle when I pushed the sport exhaust button (normally the change is rather noticeable), so I went to check, and yes, they were open even at a quite setting. There is also some drone at about 3200 RPM. The .1 GT3 was droning terribly when they broke, and this one is droning much less but still noticeable without a doubt.

Yeah I bet a vacuum line popped off. It’s bappened to a lot of us and I had the shop at my local track wire tie it back on. It’s never coming off now.

I think i started a thread on this too.
yes my 1.1 RS drivers side flap was stuck on loud.
Terrible sound as its un balanced.
I got under there, and it took a flat head screw driver to wedge it open it had ceased that badly.
I put high temp grease on both of them.
They are working again, but the drivers side one doesnt close all the way. still a little bit open.
I will be taking it back to Porsche at some stage to have it replaced under warranty. But now i have kind of fixed it, im not as in a rush to take it in.

This is a known fact that the vacuum line on the drivers side pops off. Many posts with pictures! It’s a simple 2 minute job! No big deal.
Or just do what many of us have done, Disconnect both vacuum lines. It will sound better than those stupid valves constantly opening and closing!

I should probably clarify I’m in Australia, so my drivers side is your passenger side lol (Right Side failed)
i have checked the vac lines they are all secure
The valve has def failed for me

The valves fail over time, they get stuck due to corrosion caused by humidity and rain. They get replaced under warranty.
The vacuum lines can get unplugged to the valves, especially the left one. I used a pair of hose clamps, and they didn't get disconnected anymore.
No idea on issues with .2 GT3RS, because I removed the vacuum lines a week after delivery, I can't stand the on/off torque delivery due to an exhaust gimmick.

I looked as far as I could see without lifting the car, and lines were not disconnected. The 3 failures on the 991.1 were all confirmed to be leaks inside actuators, not hoses. This one I'm not sure yet. I'll take a better look. Hope it's a hose so that I do not need to take it in. I just have no time for this crap.

Ok, good news - it was indeed a hose. It almost came off but was still connected just without seal, so I did not see it initially. Yanking on all hoses revealed the weak one. I re-sealed it, and it's working again. I'm glad I posted about it Rennlist convinced me to check again! So see, this forum is not just about depreciation :-).
