Why every 10 days? Not gonna pretend that it's the right thing to do like others here because I have zero evidence that it is the best thing to do. My hunch is that 10 days is still overkill, but I can't prove it and it made me feel better to do it.
boy do i remember that car, and how it was 'well used' by you chris and ben ... to the drivers and to the car...

I have a new GT3, it's definitely a MY2018 and came with MY2019 manuals, interesting, lol. Although I do not have the manuals in front of me right now, I could've sworn it only mentions 0W-40, which is odd considering my GT4 listed 0W-40, 5W-40 & 5W-50 as approved weights. I ran 5W-50 M1 in my GT4 and still have a 6 pack in the garage and when my GT3 is ready for it's first oil change, I would like to use it. Does anyone have a current A40 pdf, I haven't been able to find one. Thanks!

Not a pdf file, but here's the paragraph from my 2018 GT3 manual:

"Engine oil specification Porsche A40; SAE 0W-40, SAE 5W-40, SAE 5W-50"

Don’t think A40 list has been updated for awhile. Fine to use Mobil 1 5W50 which is on last list I’ve seen.

Youll need at least one more quart though (probably better to get 2, though you may not need it all). Think I used 7 liters (which is 7.4 quarts)

My manual looks completely different. The technical data from the back pages doesn't even reference oil!!! The page that does is very vague.

^^^ If you google VW51100 it will take you to a page that says it is Mobil 5w50.

Didn't even think to...Thanks, I'll check that out. I wonder if anyone else received a MY2019 manual with their MY2018 GT3, or if it's just me, LOL.

If it’s not an A40 approved oil, you can run into warranty issues...

It's odd that the video compares 2 synthetic oils to a conventional oil.

I see a lot mentioning annual oil changes, is that what the US schedule states ? My European schedule states 20,000km (12,000 miles) or every 2 years...

Should I have the dealer do the oil change or is it a waste of money?
I would definitely get it changed after 1K miles. Also, cut open the old filter you will see a lot of metallic debris.

You must have missed my post above in this thread. I changed oil at around 850 miles and used an oil filter opener (like this one: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pro-66490 ).

When I used a razor blade to separate the filter paper and opened the pleats, there was NOTHING visible on the paper. I've done this on several cars and always found something (and on one occasion an inevitable rebuild was predicted). This is the first time I ever did it on the very first oil change of a new motor and expected to find plenty of debris from the assembly process - but nothing there - totally pristine...

If you intend to keep it, I'd recommend an oil change at 1-2K miles, then 5K, 10K, 15K, etc. (on the 5K interval) as it is easy to remember. If you are not driving it much, change the oil at least once a year.
