Default Laguna Seca 91db "fix" question

Hello All,

After spending some time on the net, I got nothing on 991 models and not even sure if sharkwerk's 997 method works on 991. I called Sharkwerks today to speak to Dan but said he has no clue on 991 model.
Can someone please point me to the right direction so I can prep my car for next monday's track day?

http://sharkwerks.com/porsche/techni...at-laguna.html

Thanks in advance!!

Get the track nanny being sold by amalgamated Tom.

Or, give up 0.5 seconds on your lap time and short shift to 5th gear as you exit t5 and move to the left side of the track. Then shift back down to 3 and move to the right side of the track as you pass under the bridge and set up for t6

another option is the Dundon motorsports muffler for GT3 - I've used them on a 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 and make sound at 90 DB laguna days - the muffler is heavy but it works and once installed you can forget about and make sound at other tracks as well....

check it out.

I'm also tracking LS soon with my new to me 991.1 GT3. I can't tell you exactly what will or won't work but I can tell you what I'm going to roll with and what I've heard.

First of all I have the track Nanny installed:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...ontroller.html

My car has a sharkwerks CMB as well and I was told my car passed on a 90 db day with the track nanny and exhaust sweeps. I've purchased Chasen's (SP Motorsports) new sweeps that have a movable bracket to direct/interfere with the exhaust sound. (wish I had a picture but Chasen may have it on his site now) FWIW He's telling me an RS passed sound without the Track nanny with just this new sweep.

Jamie at Dundon told me the same about their "orange" center muffler, that an RS passed without the nanny but it was never clear whether that was a 90 or 92db day. Sounds like Dave04 above has had success with it.

I know what Joe said above is accurate as he has many days there in his original .1.

My plan is to see if my car passes with the Nanny and sweeps with the sharkwerks installed because I like the sound now that I've had it for a few months. If not I bought an OEM muffler I will put back on the car and run OEM with the Nanny and the sweeps.

if the Track Nanny "fixes" the problem, wouldnt it be the same as leaving the PSE non-activated when driving?
Thought the whole issue is the exhaust being too loud as-is with or without PSE activated?

The valves open automatically regardless of the PSE state - (on or off) above 4K RPM (or so). What the Track Nanny does is take over solanoid control from the ECU and force the valves closed when the car enters the Geo fence around turn 5 programmed into the unit regardless of the RPM. It comes with a GPS antenna and the default programming for Laguna is included. It's also got some cool controls if you want to program it to work in a different location.

Joe told me the OEM GT3 mufflers with valves open are between 96-98db. This setup might get you close to 90 and with the exhaust pointing down it wouldn't matter which side of the track the sound gun was on (if - when LS goes to a mobile sound gun)

I really like these but they may be a risky investment when it comes to passing sound at Laguna, ambient conditions make a big difference if you're just close to the 90db area.

The easy ghetto fix is to use a large hose clamp or safety wire and tie the valves closed while at Laguna.

Downside is the car will be quiet all around the track. The GPS fence solution is the most elegant.

Where does all that extra heat go if the flaps are close permanently?
