They can definitely pull you over, and you very well could get a ticket...they do say modified but have fun telling a state trooper your super loud car isn't...some guys with M4s that have whatever the sport exhaust BMW offers have already been pulled over and ticketed in LA.

I will be sure to think about this law as I am blasting through our Colorado mountain roads at 9k with the sound of my Sharkwerks exhaust bouncing off the canyon walls. hehe

I wish the wall would extend up from Mexico and include california

There is a lot of overreaction here. Neither the dB limit nor the exhaust laws have changed. Instead of a fix-it ticket, offenders get a fine...that's it.
If you haven't had an issue with your GT3 with/without aftermarket exhaust, you shouldn't going forward.

If they can make money on it, you're gonna get nailed for it.

If only, but it won't come to pass. The law has been on the books for years, the only difference now is fine vs. correctable. Fact is, aside from sporadic sweeps, the cops simply don't enforce this law out here in the Bay Area at all. All the police and CHP are understaffed and spend most of their time working accidents.
I really wish they would enforce the sound laws because things have really gotten out of control, but I don't expect they will. Honestly, it's hard to even get a speeding ticket out here these days, as there just aren't enough cops to do adequate patrols.

in a couple of years the only way drivers will be able to avoid tickets in CA will be by driving a Prius or Tesla ( driver must be wearing Birkenstock's, however).

I also find loud exhausts (especially ones that don't do anything) a little obnoxious. Yes, I'm including the bypass folks (don't kill me). No performance gain, just sound. It is exactly what the "Harley guys" are doing. No, it isn't for safety. I ride too. You don't hear much of a motorcycle exhaust until it is already next to you/past you.

All very interesting! Still holding onto the dream of buying a place down there and bringing my car.
Isn't a fine better than fix it ticket?

They also send you to the state vehicle inspection (BAR). It is a $1000 fine PLUS the state inspectors will make it impossible to register your car until you fix it. This is going to kill exhaust mods in the state.

^ That is not what this is about.
If you are running without cats, yes, you will be sent to the BAR. Nothing new there.
