“burning” odor after driving

Burning Brakes
On the 997.1 gt3 my dad had, anytime we ran that thing hard it smelled like burning metal. So strong in fact it was literally nauseating. That part really sucked, I very much hope that doesn’t exist on these new ones

You good- subtle but distinctive smell. You will be glad it is there but far from overwhelming

I am pretty confident that 'cosmoline' being applied to PCAR engines and transmissions is a thing of the past....last saw it on my 993s which came with plenty of it. I spent hours and hours under my 991.2 Turbo prepping it for the 'full' concours category at this year's Porsche Parade and saw no evidence of it anywhere.

Even my new 2018 Panamera turbo S E Hybrid smells like something is burning when I return it to the garage. My wife has commented almost every time we come back home.

Haha! Ditto on the burning smell. It's been in the back of my mind for sometime now, but thought it could've been the coating on my BBi bypass, and it was for a while. Then it turned into more of a campfire smell, not bad, but enough to be aware of. Thank you for starting this thread.

Three Wheelin'
As mentioned above, some of the older porsche people in my family call it Porsche Cologne.

I get the same thing on my 3RS. Just assumed it was the smell of the tires and/or the exhaust.

Were you leaving a Chipotle? If so, I think that's fairly common.

this is what i love about these cars.
the touring i have is my first gt p car, has 4k miles and it smokes sometimes, makes weird mechinical noises sometimes, smells like burning plastic sometimes..... i have fal and scrape the front lip sometimes (fal lifted and not lifted).... have taken it to the red line and shifted late....
maybe im crazy but the beauty of these gt cars is that, although they have a hefty price tag (and because of that some people baby them and worry about every noise, smoke, smell etc), at the end of the day these are not posh luxury cars with massaging seats, they are raw, street legal race cars. each one has its own identity, character, and personality. because of the unique, rough characteristics of these cars (among other reasons), there is no other car i’d rather have. i’m keeping this thing forever!
