Default Paint issues at delivery

Gents,

Took delivery of a new Meerblau touring, which was not dealer prepped as I wanted it to go straight to Invisibra in Dallas, who has an excellent reputation. After getting into the full wrap job, he noticed a few items to note, one being the hood and fenders had subtle lines that he thought might have been caused by the factory plastic wrap, but said they were even in areas where there was no wrap. The second issue, is upon removing the rear lights, both lights have worn/dug through the paint into the plastic bumper. Mind you the car went from the boat/port, to the dealer, trailered to the detail shop.

Has anyone gone through this with PCNA and have any pointers for what lies ahead?

thanks!

I think there is another thread on this stating that PCNA admitted paint issues on GT cars and issued a bulletin about it to dealers

I believe there was an issue where the plastic wrap was put on. Search or if you don't find anything PM Haku as he had the issue. Good luck and sorry for the issues

Congrats on the car.

Mine had some unfinished wetsanding marks on the decklid right between the intakes and a small line in the clear as if something pressed against it on the passenger textured rocker. I didn't pursue it since I was able to remove most of the defects but the car was shipped to me from out of state so they would've blamed the shipper anyways.

There was an issue and there's a bulletin. I had it confirmed to me at PEC LA when I took delivery. Luckily my car was unaffected but I asked about it.

It had something to do with when the plastic wrap was put on. Something about being put on too early for some cars and a related issue about weather and the wrap being put on when the cars were too cold which means the paint wasn't as dry as it should be.

But I don't think that would affect the car in the areas you're specifically mentioning, unless it's the same cold-weather issue and installing the lights etc. before the paint was fully dry is what caused it.

Find a Detailer who can prep the paint and bring it back to perfection before wrapping your car. No ones car arrives perfect. Just some need more work than others

Glad I checked the CXX 'good paint' option. Seriously, my 991.1 came in with sanding marks on the rear deck and wing.

The quality of Porsche's finished PTS product is shameful. For the price it should be near perfect. But in reality, it is very poor. Worse than the standard color palette in my experience. I'm doing Atlanta delivery in Feb and they refuse to leave car wrapped from ship. In a way it might be better because I'll be able to point out any issues. Always have sent direct to detailer in the past, fully wrapped. Porsche should pay the bill for full paint correction.

The people at the port or wherever they do the paint correction should be fired for horrendously poor work.

I think Porsche is no worse than other Mfgs but I have learned that Porsche Owners are perfectionists and over-achievers

Well I've never paid ~$13k for a 'special' paint. Guess I was just hoping for more.
