Default 991.2 RS high downforce mode?

In the GT4, there was a 'high downforce mode' where if you increased the attack angle of the wing, you were supposed to remove 2 small air dams in the front of the car to increase front downforce and balance out the aero. This was described in the GT4 manual

In the 991.2 GT3, the only setting involves the wing and the manual says increasing the rear downforce with the wing may increase understeer. No mention of removing any air dams in the front and, in fact, there are NO removable air dams in the front of the 991.2 GT3

In the 991.2 RS, the manual says the same as the GT3. They only describe adjusting the wing and that you may increase understeer. No mention of removing any air dams. HOWEVER, I have found that in the RS there are indeed front air dams that look identical to the removable air dams in the GT4.
Can anyone confirm that the air dams I have pictured are indeed supposed to be removed when adding more rear wing to balance out the aero up front?

I think you’re right. They look quite similar to the dams I removed in my gt4.

I removed mine. I didn't notice any understeer at the track a few weeks ago.

Thanks. So you concur that these dams are indeed supposed to be removed when adding more wing?

That's what the lead tech at my dealership told me. I remember on my GT4 that you couldn't do one without doing the other.

Yes, in an early debut (maybe New York?) AP talks about removing the two front air dams for even more downforce.

Best Regards,

The flap/ air dam ahead of front wheels reduce drag created by the front wheels but increase lift on the front end. So removing it should increase front downforce at the expense of more drag.

There were removable screens in the front of the wheel arches in the GT4 which you had to remove to balance the front downforce when you increased the wing angle. The screens were there to prevent the front tires from shooting stones directly towards the front radiators.
Another point worth making is that all GT4s. GT3s and RSs fitted with PCCBs had less front downforce as the increased disc diameter prevented air from escaping the front wheel arches..IIRC there are also screens beneath the RS's front fender louvres which are removable to increase downforce.

If anyone knows...How many lbs of downforce is factory setting vs max setting? Which setting was used for ring time?

Not sure, but I bet the wing in high downforce mode causes a big loss of straight line speed at the Ring. When Porsche adopts active aero, it will pay big dividends for Ring time...

I'm pretty sure you are right. When I was at the ring, I managed to hit the same top speed as Estre (285km/h), except I hit that top speed before him. I hit 285 before antoniusbuche and lifted for the kink, while he continued to accelerate through and didn't hit the same speed until after and approaching tiergarten.
