Should I upgrade to 991.2 GT3RS?
I have the opportunity to order a 991.2 GT3RS.
My car at the moment is a 991.1 GTS.
I go to track a couple of times a year but I still call myself a rookie.
So my question is being a rookie will I be able to appreciate the difference between 2 cars?
Also please also keep in mind that cars here in Hong Kong cost about double the price of cars in the US.
Appreciate everyone’s input.

I live in Australia, so I know your pain in regards to car prices.
You will definitely notice the difference moving from a GTS to a RS.
So if you have the chance, go for it.
I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I have a 991.1 GTS and a 991.1 GT3 RS.
They are both excellent cars but very different and not easily interchangeable. One is a track machine and every time I am in it, it is a significant event. The other is much tamer and best for daily driving.
If you can, keep both.
If you can only have one then it depends what you want it for.

As all of you have said, the cars are not even close....but look where he lives...Hong Kong! Personally I would never buy an RS to drive in Hong Kong. Heavy, heavy traffic 100% of the time. Worse that NY. RLr would never get the chance to exercise even 30% of the car. I would stay with the GTS and be happier 90% of the time.

What do you use the car for? Do you drive the GTS daily? That car is a spectacular all around vehicle. The GT3RS is tolerable dayato day but really shines on twisty mountain roads and the racetrack. They are both amazing cars, and it really depends on how you'll use it.

It depends on driving situations. As others have said, I would never have an RS for a daily driver, some people do and I respect them for doing it, but if they were truly honest with themselves they would tell you it’s not great...loud, uncomfortable, nerve wracking to park next to yahoos in cheap Kias, ect ect. The RS is a track car, it’s no fun to drive unless it’s done at speeds that are illegal.
The GTs Na 991.1 is a marvelous daily. You get increased comfort, better ground clearance, yet still get a lovely sound track! That being said, I’d do both! Enjoy, and good luck with decisions.

First, this is a very nice problem to have:
I will share my personal experience
I have a 991.1 4S in which i retrofitted an X51 upgrade (so the engine is similar to the 991.1 GTS) which was my first 911, and then i added a 991.2 GT3 (which is supposed to be mid way between "vanilla 911" and the even more track focused 991.2 GT3 RS).
So speaking on the difference between those two ( the 991.2 GT3 and 991.1 4S with X51 upgrade): they are very very different and are both fun (that has already been said). But now, I can never look at non GT cars the way I do after driving the GT3, the 4S feels like a toyota corolla compared to the GT. GT is a lot more exciting. Thats the clear upside.
However :
Worth noting that I drive the GT3 on weekends to get coffee on empty streets (I too live in a city), and i cannot fathom the idea of having the GT3 as the only option to drive around in the city everyday, even though the 991.2 GT3 supposedly is on the complaint side in GT lineup.
So if you are looking for adrenaline rush on the weekend the: GT3 RS would (probably) show you a whole different world that you cannot picture until you drive that car for a while (since you will also need to get run-into the car to get used to it and fully appreciate it). but i think it would tough living with it in an every day commute.
Equally: I would not trade my GT3 for any car other than another N/A GT car.
One more note: Before getting the GT3, the 4S seemed like a difficult car to daily drive, but now it feels as i said quite compliant... yet still a lot of fun.
Then the very important disclaimer is that the above are personal opinions and i am sure there are people who happily daily drive the GT s or those who track a carrera
Best of luck with your decision
