Thanks for all the suggestions it's not that I don't like the gt3 it is great I love the way it looks and drives.
It was a car I lusted after for years but now my attention has turned to trying to retire early to our place in Thailand were my nice car days will definitely be over due to cost and road safety.
So i'm looking for something fun and bit less expensive before I'm stuck with a Toyota altis or something. I will take a look at the GT350R
thanks

Honda Civic Type R. I bought one around same time my GT3 I ordered finally arrived. The GT3 is gone, the Honda now has 12k miles as a DD. It is worth every penny of $35k. It’s practical with the 4 doors and large hatch. Steering, chassis and manual tranny are all spot on. I’ve tuned it, swapped out wheels, ect etc. which has only made it more fun. all the raves from reviews are true for once. It’s the only non-Porsche in my garage, only non-Porsche I have driven and enjoyed in years. It’s also a blast to track. If you can get over the looks is absolutely worth a drive. Good luck.

You might be able to get into a 991.1 Turbo actually close to that (nonS) by now
I don't see anything wrong with what he suggested, I have a GT3 and agree with what he is saying in terms of it's tough to wring the car out on the street compared with a car that has turbos, whether a 911 or M4 or AMG etc...

What about a VW GTI or R?

I think another 911 variant is probably not an option. A fun hatchback could be a fun choice I'll look at the Honda and VW GTI and R. How about a Subaru WRX?
It looks like the Mustang GT350R is going for a premium or are those just starting price before negotiating?

TT RS or RS 3
Not manual unless you find a 12 or 13 tt rs, Fewer than 1300 in US so clean ones are holding value. I still DD mine. Clean low mile cars around in the low 40's
Chip, exhaust , intercooler = 450 hp, 470 tq in a 3100 lb 4 AWD platform. Put a good sway bar out back and it cleans up most of the understeer.
RS and GT 4 for track and weekends.

I think they just stopped making 6mt... get 'em while you can! I would look for 2012 - 2017.

Save $40 grand and buy a 6 speed Golf R. More fun than any luxo barge sedan is going to be, while still being insanely practical and comfortable. Just have to accept that the NAV system feels like it was designed by the Flintstones.
I've had A4, S4 and RS5's as a DD and none of them were as enjoyable on the street as my Golf R.

I had my GT3 fix for 3 months and did not like the drama for daily driving and realized I was not going to beat on it at the track...........traded it on a Turbo S that I can drive everyday and an occasional autocross or track day that will more than satisfy.........the exhaust in sport and sport plus and PDK fast or manual shifting is satisfying to me.........

I think I've gotten the GT3 bug out of my system. Has anyone had experience with the BMW M4 with competition package and manual transmission? I have never had an M spec BMW before. I don't trust the usual internet reviews and was hoping for some real experience.
I looked at the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and wasn't to impressed another option is a C63 coupe It's heavy though and I don't really want a big glass sunroof but the engine probably makes up for that although it's now turbo the sound is still great. My last c63 was a blast though with the huge naturally aspirated V8 . I'm looking for something fun on the street in the $80k range and thought a manual transmission would but nice for a change.
Any insight on the M4 would be appreciated.
thanks, mike

Re the hot hatch group: STI is an old design (and a bit homely being sedan only); the Golf R is a bit too grown up and boring; the Civic Type R styling makes me vomit. I bought a Ford (first Ford I’ve had in twenty years) Focus RS. I’m 52 and will likely give it to my son when he turns 16 in just under two years. Car is a lot of fun and I’m racking up the miles due to lots of youth sports activities/travel.
Course, you could always buy a Forester or something.
