You can inspect more thoroughly with the tray removed, but if there is a big problem you will see it without removal (and you can see the tank seam as well without removing the tray)
Thank you.

Funny, my GT3.2 is having a similar issue and seems like it is burning oil. I replaced the oil and same thing happened. Barely drove it, and now it is at the shop. Hoping it's nothing major.

Sometimes I'm not too sharp. It just occurred to me that instead of using the iPhone flashlight to assist the inspection of potential oil residue in the pan, just take a photo. No craning of neck needed

Grant, you're being too modest.

Got my car back from the dealership. Was there for two weeks waiting for part from germany. Only took a day of actual work. Engine/transmission had to come out ti replace the oil tank which was leaking at tbe seam.

Glad it worked out for you and this is an infant mortality - wishing the next 100k Miiles be trouble free
An early oil change is always welcome

New oil tank on mine too - not the seam, an actual hole in the tank. 2 months in the shop but thats due to dealership ineptitude rather than a problem with Porsche.

Checked mine last weekend (removed defuser) and no leaks.

On a side note, I changed the oil at 1,700 miles, and now with 7,000, my oil level has only dropped about 1/3 on the gauge. Will do oil 2nd change at 7,500. I'm curious where most change their oil, if not tracked?

Every 3,000 miles. I do it myself. Takes about an hour and cost around $100.
