GT2RS vs GT3 Cup Car

I’m waiting for the in-car video with data overlay for both cars! Would really show speeds into various corners and on the straights plus help compare braking points for each car and corner exit speed to tell which parts of the track favored each car. This is going to be good.

possible? Perhaps yes it would take a very very good driver and a shedload of commitment to get under 2:40 at Spa in the 3rs. I've sat in with some rather good drivers and the best properly data logged (ie 10hz vbox/race navigator, not iphone with harry's laptimer) has been high 2:40s/2:41.
As I said, a 991 cup does something like 2:25 at Spa. Per footsoldier, even on Cup2R the 2rs with Manthey KWs did 2:31 nevermind standard car on N2. That's not close to a Cup in my book...
But I agree Cup is most likely faster.

To clarify Spa:
Manthey did 2.35 on Cup2
2.31 on Cup R
They think the best acheivable times are 2.33 Cup2/ 2.29 Cup R for their car.
But remember, these times are all in their own MR car, which has 3-way adjustable KW competition suspension shocks and springs, lowered, optimised geo, no PASM and their own compound pads and upgraded brake lines. They still use standard PCCB disks

Now I wonder how long will the Cup2-R last (number of heat cycles, and track miles), and what the asking price will be. It's good that they only fit in the GT3RS and GT2RS, otherwise the HPDE crowd would be rushing to win DE on these new tires.
Olaf's team is magical at suspension setup, they helped me greatly many years ago, and the learning stuck. I think the Olaf's car at Spa is at least 2 secs faster than the stock car, so 2:35 (pushed) to 2:37 on Cup2 (non-R) on a stock 991 GT2 RS, that's plenty fast but nowhere 991 Cup territory.

My 6 seconds gap prediction stays.
Road America:
- 991.1 Cup: 2:11s (already done)
- 991 GT2RS: 2:17.x on Cup2-R
- 991 GT2RS: 2:19.x on Cup2 stock tires
Sebring:
- 991.1 GT3 Cup: 2:06 (already done)
- 991 GT2 RS on Cup2-R: 2:12
- 991 GT2 RS on Cup2: 2:14

^^ OK, not sure how you extrapolate these numbers, but at Sebring a GT3RS runs 2:16’s.
On Hoosiers 2:13 and we may be saying that the R is roughly equivalent.
Surely the GT2RS is 4 seconds faster with 200HP more?
But yes, even then it would be:
2:06 CUP
2:12 GT2
2:09 GT2 R
Road America the GT3RS runs 2:20?
5 seconds faster car (more straight, uphil compared to Sebring)plus 3 seconds faster R tires?
2:11 CUP
2:15 GT2
2:12 GT2 R

OK! Quick update! 2RS is alive and healthy with 350miles in two days of break-in. Thanks to my son, we have been taking turns driving it. Additionally, It does not appear that we will be able to obtain Cup R tires from Michelin but Pirelli has indicated the use of the new Trofeo R which I believe to be comparable. If we have any chemists wishing to opine, I welcome feedback. The good news is the setup of the Cup will not need to be changed as we all run Pirelli's for the Cup Races.
As the time draws nearer, I am getting excited and glad to see others are also.
I would also like to clarify one important component to this test: This is a comparison of Cup vs. GT2RS. It is not about lap times. As many know, there are a number of factors that can alter lap time and include but not limited to, the condition of the track and cars. However, if cars are run at virtually same time, by an experienced Pro Driver, the results should determine the victor! Whether Bryan does a 2:11 or 2:12 is a non factor in the the comparison of car to car!
Fingers crossed we can pull this off. As we get closer there appear to be more obstacles coming at us and new fees and restrictions. Would be cool to see. Having driven both cars (only 2/3 of GT2RS during break in) I will say that the 2RS is deceivingly quick. Because of the low-end torque, it pulls from the moment you accelerate and doesn't stop. You never feel the abrupt pull of the high revving 3RS. Imagine a 500lb gorilla shoving you in the back. Trackcar gave me the perspective even before I drove my car and he was spot on. You need to look to verify your speed and when you do, it is friggin ridiculous!
I am trying my best to make this happen. I can only hope others will view this event with equal enthusiasm.!!

Push on Steve, it’s too good not to make happen.
Pretty crappy on Michelin’s part to not have Tires available months after Tires are used to set the Ring lap time.
Not cool. And stupid because this should be great marketing for the price of a set of Tires.
They gave me a set of tires for the Sebring shoot..
Pirelli isn’t the preferred tire but OK..
Understood on the lap times. They are just references to anticipate the Delta between the two.
