There is no way they developed this new 4.0 just to be used for a short time. If so- what a shame!!!. They finally nail the perfect engine and that could be it. I have a hard time believing it. I think the RS going FI and the GT3 gets one more iteration. I am hoping they continue to use this in the GT4/Spyder for at least a few more rounds

Do you have rules like tax credit must be used in the same calendar year? That complicates things a bit.

I hope so. But remember the engine used in the 991.1 GT3 / RS / R was only used for a short time. The new 4.0L in the .2 GT3 / RS has been used in the Cup cars for several years, so they possibly have had more use for this engine than the prior engine.

Either way it would be a huge shame to kill this engine off.

True but the engine was still in developmental stages thru the .1 GT3/RS/R.
