To Weissach or Not? .2 GT3RS
#16
I'm in the UK and hoping to get the new RS with WP early next year.I only want the WP if i can have the Mag wheels to go with the Titanium cage to get the full 29Kg weight saving..If i was in the US however i wouldn't even consider the WP especially as you can't even spec Mag wheels right now.
The only justification to spec WP in the US now is if someone was in love with the carbon hood and roof or have money to burn.

For me the selling point is the Ti cage (non-US). Everything else, incl. the exposed CF hood and "weissach" embroidery is tacky to the max--hideous and Civic-Type-R-like.
That, and the carbon black bits just don't work with the launch color.
Researching to see if I can somehow mitigate this. I think it'll be somewhat better with a match-painted center stripe (2RS style) on those CF panels...

Ac Delete + stereo delete.
Add PCCB. (Or spec iron and add 19 e88 + ceramic disks after.)
Spec the folded bucket seats, apparently they are lighter, or just put some cgt seats. I do love the 918 seats tho.
WP package and mag wheels. Don't spec anything more, than maybe all the alcantara you can add.
If you want more, inconel headers, lithium batery, strip the boot.
At the end of the day you won't be far from the new claimed weight, given that now the claimed weight isn't the lightest. Lithium battery and inconel headers withe side muffler delete will on their own cover a big chunk and are both easily removable if needed.
Food for thought.

WP - if I keep .1RS it will offer a different look and feel.
You guys who think its a rip off as cf hood simply painted vs clear coat there are two levels of finish when the weave is visible.
Porsche raised PTS - standard paint and WP is a bargain.
Comes down to perspective fingers crossed they offer a matte CF - at 200+ I don't think anyone buying an RS is worried about their next meal.

If only the frunk was clear carbon fiber it would look so much better, like the base GT2. Adding the roof in clear is just a bit much. Plus, loving the green..give me as much as possible!

Not a fan of fully exposed carbon front hood. They shoulda done paint the whole hood to color and center part is exposed carbon. Way too rice patch with full carbon.

^ how do you konw? you had civic type R? i speak from experience and with spring cut at -8* camber hahahaha. and coffee can exhaust
your pic show hood is shinny not matte like 997.2GT2RS. whew, i love it. this way i just saved $30k, no need for WP. i have the tokyo package on my civic already and even has neon diffuser lights.

Better question is PCCB's or WP...I think the obvious call are the PCCB's instead of 'exposed' parts really.....Too bad about the Cage...but I heard there are ways for the OEM cage? But the US cars don't have the mounting point for the OEM cage

i have a new Type R, it’s freaking awesome! Yes the looks are polarizing, but my god what a blast of a car to drive for only $34k. People can rightly bash the looks, but it needs to be driven...man what a car. Although, it’s odd that people love the wings on GT cars and hate it on the Type R.
the look is polarizing
but the drive... i have had type R, as well as big hp supras.
they are reilable and fun.
but it is JDM. the germans should stay german

You can make your own DIY kit. I will help.

(From the classifieds) this is how you do a carbon hood. I think one reason I don't like it on the .2 3RS is the carbon roof as well. Would likely look better with painted Mg roof.
