What is the rationale for windows open? I have never really understood this. Even the local PCA AX demands it.

The typical stated justification centers around aiding quick egress and emergency response. Often a fire or rollover is hypothesized.

And when you figure most people with a modern Porsche use the auto door lock feature. The doors will be locked if it hasn't been disabled. That becomes an issue if the person is unconscious and the windows are up.

Don’t the doors automatically unlock after an impact?

Yes, and windows and roofs are closed automatically on some models.

Don't know but that would be nice.

Wish we could run windows up.

If anyone’s interested I’m hosting a private track day at Sebring September 6 that allows you to run windows up, AC on.

Awesome! I hope a small trickle will eventually break the dam in this case. Or at least you'll have a more enjoyable track day.

I wish I lived closer Peter; I’d be there for sure.

Good luck!

Peter, My new RS is in production now. I should have an update in a couple of weeks, but as of now delivery in Sarasota is early Sept. If it is here i'll be there.
I plan to do Chin on 9/7 as well.

Haha, I’ll email you next week or week after how to sign up.

Because ICRS:
Email me Peter@trakcar.com
Put Windows Up track day in subject line.

Basically it runs the same as DM event but with AC.

My understanding is that AC output, the compressor, is virtually shut off at high RPM (down to 5% or so). How is that going to help someone to stay cool with the windows up wearing a monkey suit?

Must be wrong because Sebring is a lot of full throttle and I can see my own breath.
Some racecars also have mandatory AC.
