I remember doing a DE a long time ago and having a fire extinguisher was a requirement for the region I ran with and the track I was at which was Watkins Glen. I'm assuming that a fair amount of people will track their cars and it's always good to have for a track situation that may be another car. I know the rule is to stay in your car and let the corner workers handle but you never know how severe a situation may be on track or in the pits. I opted for one figuring if I track it may be a requirement for the group I run with or the track I'm at.

Mine’s there for the day I need to put out some random stranger’s car fire on the highway...oh and it makes the car look like serious racer business!

I ordered because $140, it looks cool and you never know when an Italian car will self ignite at Cars & Coffee.

shakedown in first ever Cup some nine years ago at MSR Cresson. spun onto grass, stalled and wouldn't restart. all of sudden we smelled smoke. hopped out of car and realized exhaust had started grass fire. pushed the car a few feet and put the fire out only to start another and another. took five minutes for track safety to arrive with extinguisher. luckily I had a passenger to help push the car because I couldn't have done it solo. have spec'd one ever since.

better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.

LMAO!

For $hits and giggles, I asked Exclusive to match the fire extinguisher to my PTS paint. Was denied which was no shocker to me. Not sure if this was ever been done for a 'super VIP', but sounded like I have better chances of getting PTS calipers than fire extinguisher...

Pretty sure I'd rather use it on someone else's car. That being said worst case scenario in that regard someone could be trapped in a burning car and you could not only smash out their window with it and prevent someone from losing their life.

This. Besides, how many other times do I get to spec an extinguisher on a car? haha

I begged for painted calipers to match the spec on my 993TT and was firmly rebuffed.

The fire extinguisher in the 911 is the ultimate poser option.

I would rather have the replacement money than a repaired fire damage car.

I didn’t order it because it’s not a race car. Not a requirement for DE and if it ever does become a race car there are much better fire suppression systems that are required.

Isn't it the case that ppl were having a hard time ordering a replacement through the parts dept at US dealers (as it is single use and of course has an expiry date and cannot be refilled)? And as such had to hope for a second hand one for sale, which were/are selling for far more than the $140 factory option?

I opted against in my Touring because a) I didn't want it in the way of my passengers legs, and b) if my car's on fire, I'm letting it burn to the ground and collecting on the insurance. If I were tracking the car frequently, I would have specced it.
