[QUOTE=Golden Boy;14687160]Another classic. Make sure not to drive it!
Actually, I drive all my cars, whether they can become a future classic or not. I think the Touring just rendered the R to be a collector car rather than a purist’s dream, as the Touring will be mechanically superior in every way.
i think I will buy into my own silly idea and order a Touring just in case I actually like it more than my non-Touring GT3. Not having that wing blocking my rear vision is a pretty good perk. I would order it with 18 ways just to make it suit the name better. After all, Grand Touring to me means long distance comfort, and for me, the 18-way provides that way more than the LWB. A perfect daily driver.

What defines a classic car?
I think that this a car that is a kind of reference when it is produced and stays a reference of the time period. It is not only a matter of price and rarity.
Examples:
VW Golf GTI, first generation
Audi ur-Quattro.
911 Carrera RS 2.7
I don't see a 991 GT3 Touring as such.

The day that European Mfr stop making ICE sports cars, then everything before it could be considered a classic to the future generation of car enthusiasts that will grow up as teens with posters of Lambos, Ferrari's, and Porches, yet when they can finally afford it, only the electric cars are available. Imagine in 2040, the car scene will be quite different than today

2040 what a sadness
in a best case will be a boring politically correct never-ending early 2000' years photocopy
in a worst case the 3rd WWW
not sure yet what'd be better

Porsche Instagram'd the Sports Classic hinting at a new one: so basically a limited edition GT3.2 with a duck tail, likely the last limited 991 before the 992 launch. We shall see.

I'm hoping that something like this is the future classic of 2040.
As for the Touring, I think it hurt the classic status of the 911R

Since we are fewer than 5 years from the 50th Anniversary Carrera RS, I think they'll save the ducktail for that...
