2018 GT3 vs 2016 GT3 RS

I spent a full day tracking a .2 GT3 PDK with PCCB back to back with a .1 GT3RS at MSR Houston.
We raced from 50-165, the .2 GT3 pulled about 3-4 car lengths...The .1 GT3 RS has a dunden catless race header and akrapovic exhaust.
Handling/grip/road feel wasnt exactly compariable, the GT3RS was fitted with pirelli trofeos, which are an improvement over the stock Cup2's. The RS was able to produce a better lap time, mostly due to the tires, but also that I was a little easier on the .2 GT3 (it had 300 miles)
Overall, I think the .2 GT3 is AS GOOD of a car as the .1 GT3RS. I think the transmission shifts more quickly and more smoothly in the .2 GT3, and I think the engine is as torquey, and pulls even harder on the top end (as evident when we raced).
I am excited to get my .2 GT3 PDK

Interesting observations. My friends that have driven/owned the .1 GT3 and .1 GT3 RS have said the .2 GT3 is a better car. They said the exhaust is louder stock and there is less sound deadening. Also that the engine pulls harder and has way more torque down low. I'm getting a manual so it makes no difference to me, but between a 991.1 GT3 RS and a 991.2 GT3 in pdk, it would be a difficult choice.

I'm just asking, but please explain your thinking with the 85-100 hp difference? It probably took them close to 18-20 seconds(just guessing) to get from 50 to 165mph, if one made it to 165 in 18.3, four cars should only be .4 of a second at 18.7 seconds at that speed. If it pulled just a little on it, over that much time it will keep getting further away/ distance from. Just wondering your thoughts, not disagreeing.

For some that asked why someone would buy a .2 3 over a .1 RS, My thoughts. Besides the manual availability, The RS has a wider stance, more aero, vents for downforce, larger air intakes, lighter body panels, and bigger tires and wheels. With that said, it is 8 seconds slower around the Ring than the .2 3, so I could definitely see someone grabbing a 3 over the RS for tracking purposes, its cheaper and faster with less bling for attention on the streets, but some need that bling for the cars and coffee events.lol . Also, many Pro's(and amateur friends) have spoke about the STOCK(no track alignment) RS typically oversteering into corners and then understeering through the middle and on exit, Randy Pobst even spoke on this and the RS is one of the few cars that he spun at Willow, 3 times. These 2 are awesome cars but like the history of Porsche, the latest is greatest, and typically the fastest, even if only by a little. I'm looking forward to the .2 RS, can't wait to see what that car is about, I'm on the list for one.

Did the .2 gt3 had the jump or caught it and pass it? 4 car length is A LOT, like 100hp difference pull. 991.2 does have less drag, the splitter and the mesh around the exhaust do make a big *** difference, plus the wing. Still, fekk, 4 cars it's a lot, especially with dundon headers.

991.2 GT3 vs 991.1 GT3 RS
I encountered a 991.2 GT3 at ACS this weekend. Car was stock on SC2 N1 tires with a track alignment by GT Technic. Young, fearless driver. While this video doesn't prove much, but it does illustrate how fast the .2 is.

For me I wrestled with buying either the RS or a new 3. In my mind if it’s only a track weapon or car show car RS all day and maybe better investment. But I catch enough hell from father-in-laws neighbors business associates with a 911 much less the over the top ( for the street) wing. It looks like half the Honda’s running down the interstates ( the wing and uprights) so I just can’t make that step and then drive it at PCA events or on the street. The GT3 is just a better compromise for me. It can go to the track and do 99 % of what a RS can do and get around with only half the attention. I was amazed at the availability and the numbers of RS’s for sale. It wouldn’t have been hard to find or buy. BUT IF the dealer markups on the new car had continued to be just downright silly as they were before the car started showing up, I would have bought an RS in a heartbeat. My father-in-law be damned. But they relaxed enough after enough cars showed up that I got a great deal and bought it. Even so this car attracts a LOT of attention. What I can’t get over is how nice it is on the street. Speaking of Manthey my 996 GT3 had a full Manthey 410 kit- headers, cats, Ecu,shock mounts and buckets and it was a monster. It was a quality package. I bought it 2months old from a mortgage broker ( remember the market in 2004?) and he decided in 2 months he wanted a Ferrari, so after paying 125,000 for the GT3 then Whatever the Manthey kit was he sold it to me for 95,000 with break in miles. Can you imagine that today?
