I am as confused as anybody else here. Something is amiss. From what we know the vast majority of allocations have been given out for this car. Everybody who received one committed to their allocation.... with a wing. Now this??? But no news on additional allocations. To me, this option is only for the flipper or the guy who is buying his car only thinking about the next owner (re-sale). Is it safe to say that LESS than 991 GT3 Touring cars will be built??? I THINK SO! That make a GT3T more rare than an R!! I thought about this option for about 3 seconds "this is going to be a rare GT3, maybe I should get it"... but wait, then it is not the car I fall asleep thinking about every night. I am buying this car for ME, not the next guy. I am going to keep mine with the Wing.

Better than the R because of the updated engine.

Good for you, wings rule.

You know the convertible coming next

This is getting funnier

I hope they just blow out a bunch of variants with this engine so all can enjoy and Porsche can line their pockets

He's right, got the confirmation from my dealer today, Touring is a package for GT3 orders and not a separate list.

I have no interest in it. If it were a separate limited edition model, then maybe. As such, it is just another GT3 but with a wing-delete option, which to me is what makes a GT3 a GT3. I wouldn’t want a GT4 without a wing. I wouldn’t want a Performante without a wing. And I definitely would not want a GT2RS without a wing! So basically it is a wing-delete GT3 that has chrome around the windows (which I hate) and alcantara-delete (I happen to like alcantara and was trying to order an alcantara dash on my GT3) that has a lower top speed and lower track times. It doesn’t even have a softer suspension tuned for the road rather than track like the 911R. No unique colors. No unique interior. Wouldn’t most people be better served with a GTS coupe? If the purpose is mainly for street driving, I doubt anyone can exploit the performance difference between the GT3 and the GTS. The GTS might actually be better because it has more low-end torque and the buyer has the option to buy a PDK for daily traffic grind.

I really don’t see the point of this car except to **** off 911R owners and appease those that wanted to buy a 911R, but even those people may very well choose to go for a full-blown, purpose-built “regular” GT3 and choose their transmission.

Just my opinion.

Will it have a Mezger 4.0? IMO What makes an R special is the 4.0 Mezger 6M. Everything else is basically peripheral

It has the GT3 4.0, which is superior to the R 4.0, but it doesn't have some of the R weight saving.

Ummmmmmm ..... the R has no Mezger engine.

Mezger engines ended with the 997's.

Superior? So far that claim is false. Too many issues. Time will tell

You won't miss the extra 95lbs. There's more of a variance here with driver weights

The only Mezger 4.0 was the 997.2 RS 4.0.

911R had 9A1...
