Hi folks, does anyone on here know if the throttle body from a 3.8 9A1 (991) would fit on a 2.7 9A1 (981) and, if so would it offer any performance advantage? I have a spare throttle body from a 3.8 and wanted to see if i could use it on my 981 Cayman base. Asking this question also in Cayman forum. Any response is appreciated, thank you!

Don't know about fit but in general if you are going to increase intake you have to increase exhaust for the best gains, say with headers for example.

i doubt it will fit but if it does i bet you lose power with just that swap on a stock motor [if it is a larger size that stock]

I don't know if such a large TB swap will work, either physically or electronically. That's really a question for a tuner company.

I've read many assertions from tuners that the exhaust is really the place to start if you want to increase flow through the engine. That means headers and low restriction cats.

Appreciate the responses! To be clear, I didn't buy this part with any intention to connect it, rather it was a 'spare' from my 991 that I was wondering if I could use based on conversations that I have seen here before about larger throttle body sizes...(I'm a mechanical noob)...😀 Thanks!

IF you buy the IPD competition plenum for the 981 for the larger 82mm throttle body you can install that throttle body on the 2.7L motor. The issue is the center section; on the 3.4L and 2.7L cars the center section is built for the smaller 74mm throttle body.
