Default LSD zero preload?

I recently bought a 987 Cayman R with 28,000 miles. My understanding is that it has an LSD, but when I jack up one side I can spin the rear tire freely.

I've read that these diffs have zero preload. Does that mean this is the normal behavior? Or does this mean the diff is already toast?

Ha, thanks.

But yes to which question? It's normal?

Sorry, wasn't trying to be flippant. My link didn't post and I didn't notice.

Thanks.

Yeah, I had indeed seen that. I just wasn't sure if no preload really means *zero*... ie, spins completely freely. Wow.

You did have the Cayman in gear when you tried this, right?
