Default 997 Motor in '07 987 S

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of an unplanned engine swap. I found a good deal on a complete '07 997 3.6 motor to put in to my '07 987 S. My question, anyone who has done it have any pointers they wish they had been told in hindsight? I am wondering if it is best to swap the ECU to the 997 ECU or reflash the 987 ECU?

Thanks.

Use the 987 intake manifold and AOS set up that will need to be adapted, pretty simple. Need to use original oil pump housing as well. The ECU should have enough trim adjustment to work with the larger motor. Swapping the ECU requires the immobiliser codes etc from both vehicles to program it to work. Easy if you have the correct diagnostic tools. We recently swapped a Cayman S motor into a 996 and it was pretty straight forward.

Read the Pelican Parts Boxster 101 for his story on engine swap.

Should be a great result. Keep us posted if you proceed with the 997 engine!

so another similar question. How difficult would it be to put a 996 turbo or 997 turbo engine in? I assume that would be far more challenging, but would be interested in hearing if anyone has done it.
