With a new set of rears on, I will come to the defense of the P0 somewhat. Chasing some instructors on the road today, I can't imagine actually needing more street tire. (I reserve the right to call these things trash on the track/auto-x course, however.). Life is still
TBD.

The new 4Ss should be available in the US by March, at the most. I won't need new tires before then, so perfect timing. I think there will also be 4s, but don't know the difference yet. However, the 4S is supposed to be the predecessor of the SS. Already looked at the sizes, and thankfully both my GTS 20" sizes are included. It supposed to be better than the SS in every regard, so good news.

2014 Boxster S 19 inch wheels
I got 3 DE events out of the OEM Goodyear F1 before tread separation on left side, especially left front.
Put on a new (expensive) set of Yokohama NO spec tires. One day and left front was shot, outside 1/3 bald. Rotated fronts and fried the other front tire on day two. Rears showed some wear, but not excessive and even.
Alignment? Need to add negative camber in front? Can I add negative camber with the Porsche Active Suspention Mgt. system? Best tires for street and track?
I do 4-5 DE events a year and drive 5000-6000 street miles a year. My track buddies suggested slowing down and not lapping them...not going to happen!
Any thoughts appreciated.

Yes you need more neg camber. Generally these cars with stock parts can only get about neg 1 deg. GT3 or aftermarket lower control arms and shims is the most common way to go. Check Tarret, Elephant racing, RSS. For combined street/track I'd say neg 2 to 2.5 deg. For tires in your 19in size look at Bridgestone RE-71. Has become very popular for track. At 10 days per year may also consider a set of track wheels/ tires. I believe you can go to 18in and have more tire choices. Tirerack is a good source for info.

Mine came with P Zeros but I wouldn't buy another set. I'll replace with the 4S. Michelins are the best tire for the money.

The best Pirelli tire I've ridden on, by far, is the Corsa, but it's a quasi-track tire that's only good for ~ 6k on the rears. Ride quality and handling are superb.

Thanks Zencat. I've got a set of 18 inch wheels for my winter tires. I'll look into 18" Bridgestone RE-71 for the track on my "winter" wheels. May as well use the winter wheels in the summer for the track.

You needed X73. With less body-roll and more negative camber, it's much friendlier to tires when driven aggressively. You obviously need more negative camber, but also stiffer springs and sway bars to control body-roll (at the very least the latter). Otherwise you have to go ape-$hit with the negative camber, and would kill your tires on the insides now. Good luck.

I got about 6000 miles (including 8 days of DE) out of a set of P-Zero tires. The outside of my front tires wore out first - the rear tires had maybe another day of DE in them and all four tires had tread on the inside left. I had an alignment done to add some camber when I replaced the tires, so we'll see how that affects tire life.

I just hit 3000 miles on the Spyder with 1 track day at Road Atlanta in 100 degree weather and quite a few runs up to HWY 129 and Wolf Pen and all that. Wear so far is great. I am looking forward to trying out the new Michelin PSS replacement. Albeit 1 size up in the front and rear. Hoping that gives a bit more bite. I got max neg camber in the front at 1.3/1.4 thereabouts and 1.9 in the rear. Tire wear is excellent so far.

Hitting lime rock soon , looking forward to seeing how much time they will shave off
How'd the SC2 tires hold up?

I can't recommend the PZero as a dual use tire, and I'm heading toward the RE71R and 19" wheels as a result, unless there is a real 20" alternate for us.

Do the math on 245/285 widths, maintains ratio and looks great, feels grippiate, more planted

I have 16,350 miles on my P-Zeros on my BS. The rears are about 1/16", but not 3/32" above the tread wear indicators. Very even wear across. I run the Porsche-recommended tire pressures. I had wheel alignment checked and set at 11,300 miles and the service tech said I couldn't have a better tire wear pattern at that mileage. Fronts have more tread left, as one would expect.

I'm estimating I'll get right at about 20,000 miles before the tread wear indicators are even with tread in at least 2 places on my right rear tire. Might only make it to 19,000. I don't peel out from stops, but I hammer it pretty hard once the car is rolling at least one time each time I drive the car. Good for it to hit redline at least once every 50 miles or so if the oil is warmed up to >200 deg.

That seems to be the way to go size wise. More grippy compound would be great too
