Has anyone done a retro-fit of the Porsche Sport Exhaust in a 981 without installing the console control button? I would be interested in your experiences.
At $1995 (with reuse of current tips), the complete Porsche system is cheaper than several of the uncontrolled aftermarket exhausts.
My thinking is that I will probably drive around with loud-on all the time anyway, so why go to the additional labor of hooking up the control system. Anyway, I hate the idea of some anonymous tech disassembling part of my Cayman's Natural Leather interior to make the hookups. Right now, the interior is as silent as a tomb (zero squeaks and rattles) - who knows how it will all come back together after the disassembly.
I did it on my 987.2 for a few months. It just leaves the PSE on the whole time. I DD my car, so the loudness got to me when I put the top up. In the fall I wired everything up and had it programmed so I can turn it on and off.
The Spyder already has PSE, so haven't done it myself, though I considered doing it when I flirted with the idea of buying a used Boxster S, many of which didn't have PSE. Now having PSE, it sounds incredible and I never drive w/out it on, except in my neighborhood. So I'd like it for that reason, but could certainly live w/out having it on a switch. I think your logic is sound (pun intended, I suppose).
