Tire Size Options for Spyder

BTW Panorama has a brief article on the new Pilot Sport 4 S. It specifically mentions N0 sizes for the Spyder OEM sizes being available in March. Pirellis are getting tossed.

They are are available to order on Tire Rack with a March delivery, not N0 though.

What are the wheel sizes of the spider? First of all, proper wheel/tire width ratios should be observed, especially on a sports car that might be pushed hard. Plus, you want to also alter both front and rear by precisely the same amount, so diameter differences are identical. For instance, I wouldn't do 245/35 in front with 295.30 because you need an equivalent of 275/35 at the rear to have the same balance as factory. Not critical, but I wouldn't deviate to that. And that's precisely what I want to get at. My forged turbo wheels are 8.5/10 rather than the stock 8/9.5, but with the same tire sizes (235/265), which is not the ideal size for those wheels. Are spiders the same widths as my turbo wheels??? If so, I plan to move up to 245/275 35sbut would like to know there won't be any rubbing issues with X73. Also of consideration is offsets, but my wheels shouldn't rub on the outside since they're not that aggressive, and that's fine with me, to avoid throwing more rocks to the rear fender. Finally, my car has the F1 tires, and my brother's BGTS with X73 sits 1/2" lower than mine with Pirellis. Measured the fender gaps, and the difference is in the tires. He has the P-Zeros. So there's a chance the MP4Ss in 245/275/35 might be the same height as my current F1 235/265/35s, but a bit wider. That'd be perfect. Curious about spider wheel sizes, but since it also comes with the same rubber as my GTS, I doubt the wheels are any wider than mine at 8.5/10. And I would not put a 295 tire in a 10, but to each his own. Thx.

Goldilocks Tire size increase from 235/265 to 245/285

235/35/20
diameter: 26.5
265/35/20
diameter: 27.3
stock ratio front to rear: .97
my new setup is:
245/35/20
diameter: 26.75
delta: 0.25 inches
285/35/20
diameter: 27.8
delta: 0.5 inches
new ratio front to rear: .96
so the ratio delta between stock and going up to 245/285 FR is 1% off, that's the closest I could get it, and is closer than the 295 rear which i believe might actually be too wide for the Spyder rear wheel. I took it very a spirited drive in the mountains and perceived a slightly heavier feeling steering, definitely more compliant ride over bumps, and a much better grippiness.. less skittish car. Of course, all this is subjective, as is the looks which I feel have improved greatly with the wheel well filling out more as well as the wheel/tire fitting more flush to the side, almost as if i had spacers.
if there is a good reason why porsche didn't go with this size as standard to begin with, then I don't perceive it. I'm 100% happy with the changes.
BEFORE (kind of dark.. can't see how thin the tire looked in the wheelwell)
AFTER (fills out wheel well much more nicely in my opinion)

Great choice CAlexio. And yes, with 10.5" wheels, you HAD to go with 285s. It's ridiculous Porsche kept a 265 on those wheels. Even on my 10" wheels it looks smallish. Guess will go with 245/275 on my GTS with 8.5/10 wheels. Thanks a lot for your input. Will wait until the new MP4S come out, since the leftover MPSSs in my sizes are very old (2011 or so). Much prefer fresh tires, plus the new ones are supposed to be even better. I think the N0 designation is pure marketing, but if the difference is not a lot, will go with those. But it's basically the same freaking tire. Take care.

Porsche wanted to differentiate the GT4 and the Spyder in terms of the performance department quite a lot and the easiest way was to put less stickier and skinnier rubber. Something that can be easily remedied.

I guess I didn't bother to mention that these are K1, Ferrari spec tires… I couldn't find any N tires… But I challenge anybody to tell the difference on the road, and on the track. If somehow these make my car handle like a 6 cyl German Ferrari, then that is not the end of the world LOL!
