Default Paint protection

The paint at the base of the front wheel well gets pretty beat up by road debris. Does 3M or X-Pel make a patch to cover that area for protection? Rear also? Has anyone done this. Had it on my 996 4S and worked well. I prefer not to do the whole clear bra approach. Thanks.

I just got the entire front end wrapped.
The hood is the weak spot as the substrate is aluminum and softer than steel.
Money well spent.-Richard

i'm sure you can ask a clear bra person to cover anything you want.

Agree - I'll talk to my dealer, who did the 4S years ago, and did a terrific job. Just want to protect the most vulnerable parts, as do all males.

When I picked up my Spyder I had the entire front fender wrapped which also covered the area behind the tire. It has worked perfectly, no chips or wear. The installer cut a custom piece for the rear bumper to cover the lower half behind the tires and that has also worked well although I do wish they covered the last few inches on the underside, that has some wear but is not visible unless the car is on a lift. I would recommend both to anyone that wants to maintain the original paint.

Did they install Xpel or 3M?

Xpel. I have 11.5K miles now and I would say the rear bumper behind the tires and the entire front bumper are in need of replacement. I also plan on having the rockers covered on the textured areas, I've heard the new products will cover them without issue. I already have it on the door sills and that also needs to be replaced, some heavy scuffs from shoes mostly due to getting in/out of sport buckets seats in tight areas.

I'm not sure how new it is, but Llumar now is selling their own version of the paint protection film, and a local installer said he switched to it after some tests, he used to install Xpel. I think I'll try it on my new Cayman GTS when it arrives next month. Entire front end, plus maybe the door sills and rear wheel areas.

Phil,

Here is the link that shows the Expel kits for the Boxster S.
They can also custom do certain areas.

They can do wrap about anywhere from what I know. A good installer can work wonders. Makes all the difference.
