Default 5mm spacers downside

Hello ,
are there any downside using 5MM spacers on a boxster s 981.
I mean , does it change the handling , does it affect agility ?
I used to have spacers ( 12MM front and 10MM rear) on a BMW M 135 I , and I
removed them because the car was less fun to drive .Off course 5MM should be
less intrusive...And also , are there any downside for the bearings ?
Thanks for your help.

5 mm is quite small and should slightly help handling but you probably wouldn't notice. Anytime you add track width via wheel offset or spacers you will increase the loading on the bearings but I wouldn't worry about.

Aesthetics only. Makes it slightly easier to clean the calipers. Make sure your wheels bolts are also 5 mm longer.

I added 8MM spacers in the front and 15MM in the rear on an '06 Cayman.
I couldn't tell any real difference in the feel or handling.
I suspect that if I tried back to back drives with and without the spacers I could detect a difference, but it would not be significant.
The only change noticeable was the appearance.

Whether this would be different for a 981, I don't know.

adding spacers changes the effective spring and shock rates. the centerline of the wheel gets further away from the pivot point of the suspension. even though 10mm may not seem like a lot, as a % of what could be a 500mm "lever:, it's 2.5%. That said, unsprung weight of a wheel/tire combo could have similar effects on shock and spring rates.
