Odd voltage @ trunk light 987C
2006 Cayman S with non-working rear trunk light. After confirming bulb, switch in striker working, fuses, etc., could not find the problem. Car is tidy otherwise but alarm is silent (I think I just need to replace the alarm horn). No other lighting problems.
Took the bulb and housing off the harness, put a meter on it, and I'm consistently getting 5.8VDC whether the light should be on or off. It doesn't appear to be enough to turn the light on. Doesn't seem to be draining battery either though, but I do drive it most every day.
Any suggestions? I can't seem to locate anything on low voltage being delivered to a lamp in any archives or articles for these cars or similar.
