Hey all. My 2011 Boxster needs a sound upgrade and I'm wondering where to start. My budget is limited so need to do this in stages. I have the base sound system. So, do I start with a new HU? Or am I better to change out the dash and door speakers first? What about adding rear speakers - would that be a good first step to create a better surround sound? And then there is always the amp/sub combo that needs to go in, but assume that's the last step?
Thoughts? The boss (aka the wife) says I have about $1000 to play with here.
Just MHO but if it's better functionality you need, I would go with a new head unit now and then slip in an amp and speakers later. I'm waiting for more Android Play units to appear before I make a decision but if you use an iPhone there are quite a bit to choose from now (if they fit your car is another issue though). I would also have a pro do it, being sure all parts play well together..
Edit: Just went on Crutchfield looking for an upgrade for my wife's 14 Boxster or my 09 Cayman S and the info is confusing (to me anyway). Boxster they all say fit isn't checked, Cayman shows practically nothing available.. odd.
