Default PSE loud enough ?

Hi ,
I 'm looking for an exhaust for my boxster 981 S .This is a second hand car and the exhaust is really muted.
I would like to have your opinion on the PSE , is it loud enough ?
I think driving this car very frustrating with the roof down. You only hear tyre and
wind noise.I think the exhaust should be strong enough to cover those noises even
at part throttle and low rev.Is the PSE doing this.As the car is still under warranty
I don't want to go for an after market now , except may be a Caniwall GT looking
stock.Otherwise the Borla end Fwd brombacher sound nice ( on youtube...at least ) Any feed back on those exhaust , specially the Carniwall GT ?
Many thanks for your answers.

I think the PSE is pretty loud for a street car. You can definitely hear it, top up or down, when it's turned on. My wife thinks it's obnoxious, and I don't turn it in our neighborhood.

Obviously a subjective question, but I'd say that PSE is marginally loud. Of course you get the popping sounds a lot when downshifting or abruptly letting off the gas pedal, but overall it's far from loud. For example if you want a sound similar to a Ferrari FXX, PSE will disappoint you.

little bit too loud this Ferrari ...
No of course I don't want a race car noise.
What i want is to be able to hear the engine singing when the roof is down and
at relatively low speed and part throttle , like on a twisty mountain road like i have
here in the south of France. With the stock exhaust you only hear tyre and wind noise .Only fine at full throttle.
Is the PSE doing that ?
Thanks

There are varying opinions about PSE. Mine is that PSE is marginally better than stock, but not substantially different. Of course you will hear lots of popping sounds from PSE.

I think PSE is perfect. I had aftermarket on my other 987's and the drone was just too much. PSE will always be an option I check off going forward.

+1 on PSE perfection. There is a slight drone at 2000 RPM, not bothersome to me but it is there.

there is no " music " from this motor at 2-3K rpm highway cruising ...to hear exhaust > wind noise with top down at this speed - at light throttle - you are bathing in unpleasant agricultural tones ...the type of crude blatting you hear passing on the freeway from cheap imports or doemestic pick-up trucks with auto parts store exhausts

I really like the choice I get with PSE. As much as I love the overrun popping and the fury on open throttle runs up to 7 grand, I also appreciate having the 'quiet' option.

good luck with your choice.

That will sound like PSE, but you can't turn it off. I just installed PSE on my car on Saturday. I love it on the weekends, but I DD my car. It drones pretty bad between 2k-2.5k, which is pretty normal ranges for me to be in during the week. Once I finish programming the exhaust, it will be off during the week.

I see you also have a Black Edition Boxster S. I've thought about having PSE put on mine. Did you have it done or did you do it yourself?
When it's off, how much louder is it than with the original exhaust?

Thanks in advance!

2011 Spyder with PSE. I keep it on 95% of the time. It's great in enclosed areas (parking garages, tunnels etc... BUT if I had a choice it would be louder. I've considered going cat-less. It's nice to be able to turn it on and off when in quiet neighborhoods. My 2 cents CND.

No experience with carniwal. I have a Tubi on my Spyder and it is glorious. But, in the neighborhood, I tone down the RPMs...
