Maybe Walter knows something we don't--will the 981 Spyder have a turbo 4? I hope so, because I just bought my 987 and I'm not ready to take a hit yet.
"But no matter how good a turbo engine is, it can never have the pure response of a naturally aspirated engine. This is the reason I bought a Boxster Spyder, because engines like this won't be made anymore."
"At least it's not a four-cylinder turbo like in the next Boxster. That sounds like a Volkswagen Beetle, I'm not kidding you! I tell the guys, 'You're joking with this sound, right?' But they just say they are working on it. I'm sure they will get it right."

Sounds like he owns a 987.2 Spyder. Not surprising! I believe Eduardo had noted in the past that one of the top Porsche family members also has one. They're brilliant cars and not typical for a manufacturer to produce as they throw convenience out the door in favor of experience.
I don't mind Turbo engines but I have to admit the sound and linearity of the Flat 6 is something everyone should experience.

Am I the only guy in Porschedom who is eagerly anticipating a turbo flat four? After twenty years behind the wheel of Saabs, Volkswagens, and Subarus, I love turbo motors. I love the fuel economy, I love the power, I love the turbo whine and bypass valve noises. I love how they feel unaffected by altitude, and I love how keeping the revs up yields nearly instant power. And over the past 30 years or so, they have become quite reliable.
It seems to me that a turbo would be the motor of choice for rowdier versions of the Boxster.

Doubt it. Porsche hasn't announced what the next Boxster will be and he said he "bought" it which implies past tense and it's existing.

Nope, there's one more :-) The torque of a turbo motor at mid rpm is like having an invisible tow vehicle pulling uou along . Whoosh :-)
After a dozen years of an APR tuned Audi, I do miss that.
I'm learning to modify my throttle inputs but it IS very different.
Love how my 987.2 just keeps on accelerating at 6000 + rpm when the little turbo motor was beginning to run out of boost though.

While I'm generally in favor of NA engines, the thought of a base Carrera with a turbocharged 3.4L is pretty appealing (esp. since I live at altitude now). I'm still buying a Cayman GT4 though.
