Considering an '08 S
I'm considering moving from my '05 Cayenne Turbo to an '08 Cayman S. Car has 75k miles, an extensive maintenance history via CarFax, and priced in the mid-20s. Having owned a cayenne and sunk some serious $ into maintenance, what are the things I need to look for (as best I can with a PPI, etc)? I know it is less likely to have IMS issues (but not immune), and some have had oiling and rod issues when heavily tracked. I don't plan to track the car, mainly a DD for a fairly short commute. It's a tip model if that changes anything to look for. Thanks in advance!
First, have a good PPI done. It is more important with this number of miles on the car.
If it comes with good maintenance history, it is more valuable IMO.
At 85K miles it should have had plugs changed once at least as well as the serpentine belt.
Water pumps wear out near this mileage sometimes, so along with checking for a weeping oil leak at the RMS, check for a weeping water pump or crust on the engine resembling dried coolant.
The Tiptronic may need servicing as well.
Check for worn suspension pieces, the condition of the brakes and tires, and a comprehensive check that everything functions from the A/C, lights and electronic items, etc.
look at the tires for uneven wear that might indicate an alignment or worn suspension problem.
85K miles is a bit high for an '08 Cayman, but if it's been maintained well it should have lots of good miles left.

Thanks Spokayman. I will certainly look at all of those things. I noticed on the carfax that the car went to the dealer nearly every other month during 2012-2014. I've contacted that dealership and asked to see the service records, so hopefully that can give me an idea if any of these problem areas have been addressed.
