Default POP!!

That's the sound my convertible top made when I hit the button to put it down today - and it didn't move. The cover opened and the motors whirred, but no movement from the top. Clearly something has snapped.

Where do I start?

TIA

My guess is the convertible top strut has broken at the plastic cup end. Get the top in service position (e.g. when you access the engine bay) and look for the struts on the far left and far right underneath the top. If it's the plastic cup, you can buy them on eBay cheaply.

Top probably wont close easily; youl'll probably need topull the top down to latch it.
I've had to replace these a couple of times on my 2005. Porsche Oem was no better than the eBay offering. I did purchase the metal ones last time, but decided to not install. Couldnt figure out how to get a socket on the nut mounting the ball to the top mechanism. The ball and socket are pressed and swaged....fyi on the metal ones.
Ten minute job.

Thanks for all the input. replaced both ball sockets myself using parts bought (4 months ago) here on Rennlist. I knew I would need them some day...
