I've used the Porsche waterproofer (wackchem.com). It seems to work and hold up well. Just about time to do another treatment. It's my understanding that dealers don't typically include this in their detailing and will charge you an additional $150 to treat the top. Taping off the entire car takes a bit of time.

In my passed experiences with convertible tops, I have used a carpet steam cleaner with no cleaner, just warm water.
You have to be very careful not to work it too hard, but the warm water will break up the salt and gently vacuum it off so it will not resettle on the top.
I have done this on a couple of tops with great success!
Make sure to treat the top afterwords so in the future the salt can't soak in and should wash off with regular soap and water.
