The real issue is the amount of moisture in the air you use. It's the moisture that causes the largest fluctuation in pressures. Dry air vs dry nitrogen you wouldn't be able to measure since all gases adhere to the ideal gas laws.
+1 on this. The "size of the molecules" argument between N2 and O2 makes me chuckle.
I fill my tires at work, our compressed air system is dried down to a dewpoint of -18 degrees C. Good enough for me, even though I have some of those "fancy" wheels with two valvestems...
