Default 987 coilovers?

I'm looking for a set for my car, but can't find any threads on the subject.

Should I go WITH Bilsteins, H&R, KW, Ksport, or some other brand that might be available? Does anyone have a dropped 987 that sees street and light track use?

Spyder suspension is an excellent idea.

If you want to get coilovers for your intended use, Bilsteins are probably the best, most popular, and the best bang for the buck. KW3s are very good but more expensive IIRC. Hardcore track cars get JRZ or Motons, but you won't need those unless you'll be turning your 987 into a track-only or race car.

Good luck.

That's definitely a possibility. What's included for $1500?

As mentioned by The_vetman, Bilstein PSS9s are a good street/track setup. Their spring rate is a little light for the track but they are 1-way adjustable with easy access to the adjustment ****. They are also height adjustable within a pretty broad range. I run them with a heavier spring package. My next choice would be the KW Variant 3, 2-way adjustable with springs a little stiffer than PSS9. Sachs make as nice unit but is not seen much. An advantage to coilovers over a fixed suspension like the Spyder package is the ability to corner balance the car. This is only important for track use.

I have seen the Sachs kit, but have not seen any reviews. A couple of my friends have corner scales, and they've offered to let me use them after the install. I'm planning to do as many DE's as time will allow, so I definitely want the adjustability that coilovers offer.

If your looking at almost $2K for the Spyder suspension, I would go with the Bilstein coilovers for sure. More room for adjustability if you choose so in the future. Height adjustment always an added plus too.

I ran them for years on my 987, highly recommend!

What spring rates? Did you get them originally, or change to them later? Mostly track? Some track? Getting ready to do this, thanks. How's the street ride?

Spec Boxsters run 450#F and 500#R and thats what I'm running. Springs and and an adapter required at the rear came from Tarett. My car is street driven a little and tracked a lot. The ride is acceptable to me but I try to avoid pot holes. With the heavier springs, the shock is a little under damped. I'm running 1 click off full stiff. Bilsgtein can revalve the shocks.
