Default Actron Scanner on a used 987

I am looking at a used 987 from a private seller. I have an Actron Elite 9190 and I'm wondering if there is anything I can look for on the scanner that would be useful.

I am taking the car for a PPI, just want to be thorough.

Also open to any advice on things that people wish they had found before buying a used 987.

Thanks

What year and model are you looking at?

State of readiness monitors. These should be set complete. If a lot of imcomplete the CEL might have just been cleared before you showed up.

Check that there are no error codes. The MIL should be off. (The CEL bulb may be burned out so a dark CEL is not necessarily a sign there are no error codes. Of course you can check the bulb works when you get in the car and turn on the ignition the light should come on (along with all the other warning lights) and then go off when you start the engine.)

Check there are no pending error codes.

Check (if the device supports it) there are no permanent error codes.

I do not believe the Acton unit will allow you to read overrev counters and engine run time but I'm not familiar with the feature set of that Actron unit.

Sincerely,

Macster.
