Default Base 987 Track Problems?

Any information on car problems when tracking a base 987, Cayman or Boxster?

Depending on year and model (987.1 versus 987.2) some potential issues include:

1. Intermediate Shaft (IMS) Bearing failure - seems to be limited to MY 2005 and earlier (I believe).
2. Oil starvation, especially under extreme cornering forces when running with R-comps, not so much if doing DEs on street tires. Fixes include installing a deeper oil sump, installing an improved internal oil baffle in the sump, and/or Accusump.
3. Air/oil mixing, causiing whirte smoke. Fix is to replace the stock Air-Oil Seperator with a motorsports version (expensive) or modifying a AOS from a 997 so it can fit.
4. Power steering overheating. Possible solutions include replacing the crank shaft pulley with a smaller diamter underdrive pulley, replacing the PS pump pulley with a larger diamater one, and/or installing a cooling system in the PS lines.

There's lots of info available on all these issues.

For the past 3-years I've tracked MY2005 3-4X per year with no issues. Regular maintenance plus rotors, brakes, and tires.
