Rear winter tire question.
Just picked up a 2007 cayman base as a DD and would like to know if anyone is running 225/50/17's on the rears? Porsche recommends 235's and tire rack concurs. 235's are backordered until January but I'd rather not wait until then What would be the harm in running a 10mm narrower rear tire?
Thanks

A narrower tire in marginal traction conditions can be a plus since the tire has less contact area and is less likely to ride up on water or snow.
If the tire is a high performance summer tire though...forget it. Either park the car on the bad days or spring for a set of real snow/ice tires.
Sincerely,
Macster.
