Wow... Didn't realize you were on your second Spyder already. I thought I was bad. Just kidding.

You do plan on keeping your current Spyder... Right? I hope so.

I do plan on keeping it. For me the Guards Red/Black interior is a Porsche classic color combo and reminds me of my first Porsche which was a 1983 9911 SC Targa in Red/Black...so from a color perspective I have come full circle again...at least color combo wise...

As a side note the PTS color I was doing and it was approved/accepted by Porsche was Turquoise Blue (3AS/J1) which reminds me of a 97 911 C4S I used to own which is in the hands of another Rennlister now...

Submitted my order for PTS...Minerva Blue Metallic. Two hours later, still waiting to hear confirmation; might be a case of no news not being good news.

Default It's going to be a long weekend.

It's going to be a long weekend.
Dealer emailed me to inform me that I most likely won't get a answer today. My request was sent yesterday after PNCA business hours on the East Coast. So the request didn't get delivered to PAG until today. With the time difference, that means Final answer won't be confirmed until Monday.

My PTS order was declined; needed to be in yesterday in order to be submitted to PAG today. Anybody still on the fence is officially out of luck I guess.

It does suck, but I had a 50/50 feeling that this would be the end result, for some reason.

Good luck to you; hopefully you will be one of the very select few who gets it accomplished.

Default I'm so p****d off

this was the letter i got Jan 11,2011. Before i ordeded:

Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your inquiry.

Grey black for the Cayman R would be colour to sample which is not on offer
for this model so far (and I guess it won't become available), but your
dealership can send an official inquiry for this option to the importer to
make sure. If you would like to go this way please note that this will
extremely extend the lead time of the car (at least 6 months for colour to
sample + some months until it will be possible to order in case the
decision was made to offer colour to sample at all).

Concerning the european usually the pick up date can be booked round about
one month after the competion of a Cayman model.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen/With Best Regards,

Ulrike Lutz
Kundenberatung/Customer Advisory Service Exclusive/Tequipment

I would have waited to get a grey-black caymanR.

ScottS,
You can bail on your current order and do PTS still. A deadline for the Cayman R PTS hasn't been determined yet. So it's still possible to get one. It's a matter of how bad do you want it.

Cayman

I sent email to above person at customization.

If I bail, i would lose $2000 for this car. I put my deposit five years ago on a "clubsport" cayman. It just annoys me that the site is all about however you see it, you can have it. I guess I'm not fixed on paying 5500 for paint - as mentioned a color that they have on hand. But the principle annoys me.

The fact that the factory say it would not be available is misleading. If they suggested it would be available, i would have delayed.

ScottS,
I totally understand your frustration. I've been asking both my dealer and the Exclusive office in Germany almost monthly only to be told that it's not available nor is plan to be in the future. As mentioned earlier, the PNCA office even called me the week before announcement of PTS to state that it's not available.

Then I get a email from my dealer that it's finally available but the window is only a week to have your order submitted and approved by PAG for the Boxster Spyder.

Initially I was happy, but pissed at the same time because of the short window and Porsche has been stating bad info. Then I figured I need to take advantage of this while I can and get over it. I figure it'll make my Spyder (if approved) even more rare.

I'm not sure why Porsche did this the way they did... Possible to not affect sales of current existing orders? But the Cayman R has no tight window. The Boxster Spyder has always gotten the short end of the stick since intro in terms of color offering.

Hopefully I get some good news tomorrow, if not, no worries as I still have my Carrara White Spyder which I still love and enjoy.
