Default Cayman with M96 Engine - IMS Issue?

I'm interested in a 2007 Cayman, which was produced 9/14/2006. The Engine/ Transmission type is M96/24/G86/01. VIN is WP0AA29817U761581. Final Assembly Finland, Engine Germany, Transmission Germany. Does this engine have the upgraded bearing design that means it will not suffer from an IMS Failure?

The engine from an MY07 should have the latest bearing design. I haven't seen any MY07 cars with the old design yet.

many thanks for the response... Do these MY07 bearings still have the IMS Failure issue? Anyone seen one out there?

Have not seen an IMS failure in an 07 or later. All of the failures I know about (certainly not a full sample) have been rods or bearing related (often overrev induced).

Yes they fail. Worse the IMS bearing is not easily replaceable without cracking the case in two. $$$$$
