Default Creaky steering

I have a case of creaky steering that is getting worse. I have tracked it down to the left front and believe it is the top of the strut tower. As the steering wheel turns the struts turn in their mounts at the top. It seems the creaky sound is coming from there.

Any ideas on the correct way to solve this?

I am planning on doing this as a temp fix but would like to know if this is a problem that requires more work to correct.

Is it more often when car is cold, like first turn out of garage, 90 degrees on the steering wheel kind of thing? Mine has a similar sound, doesn't happen every day. Goes away after the first few turns.

Actually it happens more as the weather is warmer. This morning very little - 60's. When the temp moves to the 80's it is very loud and constant just by turning the wheel a half-inch in either direction from any starting point.

Thanks. I will try the silicone to start.

I had to disassemble the left rear already to get rid of a knock. The 08 Cayman S has 24k on it. I have had more problems with this car then any car I have ever owned. It just never seems to end with it.
